Mitta Valley Inc. is pleased to be delivering the Mitta Mountain Bike Park with support from the Victorian State Government.
A Project Steering Group has been formed that will oversee the construction of the Park. The skill-based steering group consists of representation from the Mitta Valley community, Bushfire Recovery Victoria, Tourism North East, DEWLP and the Mountain Bike community.
A Masterplan for the Park was produced in 2019. This document is a conceptual plan for the Park’s development; it provides indicative trail locations along with price estimates for construction. However, the exact alignment of each of the trails has not as yet been finalised. Prior to determining the precise trail network, funding was required to undertake further investigations, including a Cultural Heritage Management Plan and environmental assessment.
This work can now commence, and the final location of all trails can be determined. Once the consulting construction firm has a recommendation for the trail network alignment, the proposal will be shared with the community.
The $1.5 million dollars received through the Local Economic Recovery Fund is for the construction of 50% of the trail network. Further funding will be sought to complete the Mountain Bike Park.
