The Mitta Valley is located in Towong Shire and includes the towns of Mitta Mitta, Eskdale and Dartmouth. It is approximately 1 hour from the regional city of Albury-Wodonga and is close to the regional service town of Tallangatta. The significant rural land that surrounds the Valley’s townships and the unique blend of farming land, natural landscapes and historic townships is a strong part of Mitta Valley’s identity. The Valley is a mix of long time locals and more recent arrivals all of whom have decided to call the Mitta Valley home.
Whilst some people travel into the larger centres for work, we are fortunate that a variety of businesses and services operate locally, including primary schools (Mitta Mitta and Eskdale), hotels, rural supplies and general stores, churches, post offices and a small supermarket. Agriculture, forestry and fisheries is the largest employment sector in the valley but the valley’s location means that opportunities for home-based or tourism businesses abound.
