Each year the Mitta Valley plays host to a number of major regional events. Various local events also happen throughout the year.  From bush culture and arts to cycling, fishing and local foods come along and enjoy! Celebrate Australia Day in the beautiful high country of North East Victoria. Held in the Mitta Valley each year.  This family friendly day has a big brekky followed by a range of fun activities. The celebrations are hosted by Dartmouth, Mitta Mitta and Eskdale in rotation. For the next year event please contact Dartmouth Progress Association (02) 6072 4263

Held on the long-weekend in March of each year at Mitta Mitta, the Mitta Muster is the largest event in the valley. With a range of horse and stockman events and a wood chopping competition the Mitta Muster also has plenty of fun filled community events including a car & bike show and shine, whip cracking, iron man and iron woman competitions and helicopter rides. Held in March of each year the trail ride allows you to explore the beautiful bush and spectacular scenery around the Valley whilst camping at the Eskdale Sporting Complex grounds.

One of Australia’s leading fishing competitions, the Dart Cup is hosted by the Dartmouth Alpine Anglers Club. Held on the Queen’s Birthday weekend in June each year it has both Open and Team competitions with fishing on the Dam and the Mitta Mitta River allowed. With serious prizes including fishing boats up for grabs and great fishing in the high country of Victoria, the Dart Cup is a must for anyone serious about their fishing.

Held in November of each year the Womens’ Fishing Classic is a fishing event for women held on Dartmouth Dam and the Mitta Mitta River. So for the chance to get away from things and to enjoy some great fishing with other ladies then get involved.

The Magnificent Mitta Mountain Ride is a cycle event through the amazing high country and down into the Mitta Valley that is held  each year in late December between Christmas and New Year. Starting at Anglers Rest high in the Victoria Alps the route winds down around 80km to Mitta Mitta. With the chance to also camp out the night before and the night after in beautiful surrounds this event is not to be missed whether you are a serious cyclist or just want some fun!
