Mitta Valley Inc. in conjunction with the Mitta Valley Mountain Bike Park Steering Group, continue to edge forward in delivering the Mountain Bike Park.
A draft social enterprise business plan was completed in the second half of 2023. Activities within the business plan will assist the group generate income associated with maintaining the future Park.
An independent grant successfully obtained in recent months allowed the group to secure 6 e-bikes and a vehicle bike rack. The e-bikes have provided the opportunity to activate the first step of the social enterprise business plan; the bikes will be available to hire from the Mitta Hotel with profits benefiting the future park. The group are finalising insurance requirements and hope to have the bikes available in the coming weeks.
At the December 2023 Council meeting, Towong Shire Council resolved to become the Committee of Management of the Park’s trail corridor. Similarly to how The Mill Reserve (day area) currently operates, Mitta Valley Inc. will enter an agreement with Council which will transfer the maintenance and repairs responsibilities of the trail network to Mitta Valley Inc.
Most recently, discussions with DEECA have informed the group that planned burns are likely in various Mitta Valley localities during Autumn. In preparation, residents may see the removal of flagging within the project area in the coming months.
Additionally, the Steering Group has engaged directly with local Ambulance Victoria staff regarding accident responses.

With the vast majority of the Park’s planning now complete, construction of the trail network is anticipated to commence by July.
